BRIENZ & LAKE OF BRIENZ

Brienz is situated near the place where the river “Aare” flows into the lake of Brienz. The village is surrounded by breathtaking mountain chains, the Brienzer Rothorn on the right and the Axalp on the left side of the lake.

The magical lake of Brienz is the deepest and cleanest lake in all of Switzerland.

Brienz is known for its wooden sculptures and hosts the only Swiss school of wood sculpture. This local craft art has a long tradition in our region. The school of violin makers is also located in our village.

Brienz offers a multitude of highlights, such as the world known rural museum “Ballenberg” and the steam train leading to the Brienzer Rothorn, our local mountain on which slopes Brienz rests. During the Summer season festival performances will traditionally take place either at Ballenberg, or close by at the lake or near the church. Year by year you can enjoy, surrounded by this wonderful scenery, plays by famous authors and acted by reputed performers together with local amateurs.

Brienz, is for us the one and only point of departure for multiple excursions, contemplative walks, boat rides, hiking and climbing, swimming in the fresh lake, biking and rollerblading,
for pleasurable golf and tennis.

Opposite of the village, slightly on a mound above the lake, towers the historical and beautiful Grandhotel Giessbach. It is situated in a large park ground through which the wild rivulet of Giessbach jumps in magnificent cascades over the rocks.

During the Winter season Axalp near Brienz is the family place par excellence and Hasliberg invites sportsmen and adepts for glamorous rides, snowboarding and paragliding. During the cold season many exciting events and happenings will take place and a lot of fun is right there for you.

Brienz and the surrounding places organize through out the year shows, festivities and entertainment. The fantastic nature, the wild Bernese Alps, the friendly inhabitants of the region and the magical lake are the ideal combination for your thrilling vacation.

You find everything you can wish for an interesting nature enveloped, sometimes active and sometimes relaxing, holiday.

Magical Lake of Brienz – Source of energy

Our ancestors felt the magic of the mountains, for them they were the site of goblins, elfs and gods; yet they were full of mystery, frightening and rejecting. In ancient times they were also a tremendous nature barrier for the local people.

Today the mountains and lakes are easily accessible for the tourists and the inhabitants of the nearby cities enjoy them as huge holiday-fun park. However, they consider the mountains as part of a different world, where you find the typical, real and archaic Swiss. In our opinion we are just deeply rooted citizens loving the countryside and the newcomers are happy to live in such beautiful nature surroundings.

We attest that the lake of Brienz as well as our genuine and still unspoiled nature have magical power. We are receiving from our lake-world the daily force and energy to be, at
any moment, fully at the disposal of our guests.

The team of the Seehotel Bären endeavours to bring back to you the glance of magic. You will visit the location of the energy-centres, you live magical moments, you feel the mysterious energy of the crystals, the unfathomable power of nature and of healing hands.
We will prove to you that this mountain-lake oasis is deeply connected with a magical soul-feeling. This is our personal aim and desire.

The Seehotel Bären, Ayurveda and the Lake of Brienz – it’s pure magic!
